Work Record - Shoot 10

Plans for the shoot
For this shoot i have again decided to base it around horses, in my last shoot i got some good images of the horses in detail, specifically i was focusing on different parts of the horse, for example the nose and the eyes. However this time round i would like to focus on other parts, for example i want to photograph the whole horse but a certain section, this is because i want to show close-up but i still want to show the whole horse. Also i would like to shoot objects associated with horse riding, for example the clothing and parts of the horses tack.
What i hope to achieve
I hope to achieve a range of photos which show close-up well but also i want to show the whole horse. i think this is important as i want to show my viewers what i am trying to capture. Also i have thought about other things i can shoot which are associated with horses and link to close-up, therefore i hope i have enough time to shoot these as this is something i have not done before and hope to achieve.
What i actually achieved

The three images above are three images which i liked a lot which were achieved from my shoot. some of my ideas changed while i was on shoot and i thought of different ideas which i thought were very effective. The first image is one i had originally planned out, i like this image a lot because it shows a specific part of the horse, i also like how you can see the veins on the horse as this shows lots of detail and wasn't something i noticed at the time until i had the image on the computer. The second image is one i came up with on shoot, i wanted to show close-up of the stirrup and the boot in the correct position. I like how the boot is quite muddy as this makes the image look more natural and you can associate it with horses. The third image is a favourite of mine, i like it because it has been taken on an angle looking up which makes it look like the horse is jumping into the camera. it can still be classed as close-up because you can see the flowers and the round close-up and the horse still looks quite close.
What i will do next time
If i was to do this shoot again i would go back to my original plans and try to shoot more objects associated with the horse so i have a wider range. Also i would like to try and capture the horse freely running, as this is something i thought about afterwards.

Work Record - shoot 9

Plans for the shoot
For this shoot i have based it around close-up of horses features, in my unit 3 i done a similar shoot to this however it wasn't all close-up as my topic was different to now. I plan to photograph specific features of the horse such as the nose and the eyes, this is because i want to be more specific and be able to capture more of the colours and the individual hairs and skin. after looking at my last photographer i analysed i also want to get some close-up eye images, i know this will be quite challenging as i will be outside therefore i will have to depend on the weather and also the lighting in order to get reflections etc.
What i hope to achieve
I hope to achieve a range of images which will enable me to edit them in specific ways which portray close-up detail. i would like to get a few different angles of pictures of the eyes as this way i can put them together in one photo, i hope this will be effective as this is and idea i just came up with. I would also like to put a lot of the images in black and white as i think this will look effective and i want to have this specific style for this shoot. I think it will fit in nicely as well because the shoot will be to do with horses.
What i achieved

The two images above are two images i achieved from this shoot i based around horses. The overall images were a bit different to what i had originally planned as i always seem to come up with more ideas when on location doing my shoot. I like the image at the top because this shows close-up well of the horses nose, i think its very detailed and i like how i have specifically focused on the nose of the horse as this goes against typical features such as eyes. The next image is another image i like a lot even though its not a close-up as the other image i still consider it to be. I have specifically put it in black and white as this is something i originally said i would do and overall i think it has worked out well. I did manage to get some images of the horses eye, however i wanted to include this to images in my work record instead as i found them attractive.
What i will do next time
If i was to do this shoot again i would definitely try out some new techniques and locations, for example i have seen some techniques which include the horse having a black background like they are in a studio, this is something which i find appealing however i am not quite sure how to achieve this effect, however it is something i look forward to finding out.

Work Record - Shoot 8

Plans for the shoot
For this shoot i have decided to base it around textures/patterns. Therefore i will be finding any textures and patterns i can photograph to make interesting enough to put in my portfolio. i already have a few ideas in my head already for example i have looked at some patterns on clothing and shoes which i know i can photograph, also i have thought about looking at patterns outside for example on leaves and seeing what i come up with.
What i hope to achieve
I hope to achieve a range of photos which portray pattens and textures well. Also i would like to be able to try out some techniques such as multiple imagery as i think this would work out well within this focus as i could combine two different patterns together.
What i actually achieved
Overall i thought my shoot went well- better than i planned anyway. two of the images below are two of my favourite images from the shoot. The first one i got was of my friends hair, it shows texture and its very big and curly. To then make this look more appealing for close up i put the same image together four time in order to achieve this effect where i have changed the colour four different times which i think makes the image look more attractive. The second image below is one i had already planned out, this image is of my friends shoe, i took this image specifically as i was interested in the patterns and i though the colours stood out a lot. i then again put three of images together of the shoe because i wanted to exaggerate the details of the shoe. i thought this worked out well as you get to see lots of detail, also i like the background in this image, i think it complements the shoes more and also looks interesting.

What i will do next time
Next time if i was to do this shoots again i would like to get more objects to contrast things, also i forgot to try out multiple imagery which is something i would like to try. i think this would look very good therefore if i was to do this shoot again this would be my main priority to test this out.

Work Record - Shoot 7

Plans for the shoot
For this shoot i have decided to re-do shoot 3 which was based around nature, this time round i would like to make flowers my main subject for the shoot. This time round i will be more prepared by gathering a range of different flowers such as roses and pansies. I would like to try and experiment with these by putting different ranges together to see the comparison, i am going to do this shoot at home as i have some flowers in m garden therefore i want to photograph them in the pots rather than picking them out, also i think this would make the picture look more natural.
What i hope to achieve
I hope to achieve a range of photos showing the different flower comparisons while also showing the flowers in detail. I would like the images to be really detailed so we can see the individual patterns on the petals of the flowers. After looking at photographers work such as Graham Owen i have gained inspiration and a few ideas as to what to do.
What i actually achieved

These are two of the images i achieved from my shoot which overall i found went very well as i have a few more which i would like to include in my final pieces. The top image is my favourite image as this is something which i hadn't planned to do however the idea came to me while shooting. What i done was lay the rose of the floor and tip a little bit of water over the petals, i thought this made a very good image as the water coming off of the flower gave off a red affect connoting blood which made it look like the flower was bleeding. The second image i also like as this shows a range of flowers, i especially like the second part of the image as i like how you can see the white flowers which contains droplets of water on it. this makes the image more appealing to look at. Also i like how you can see two different angles as i have take one form the side and then bird eye view which makes it look more interesting. Furthermore i have some more images which i thought went very well as i managed to capture a range of the flowers.
What i will do next time
If i was to re-do this shoot again for the 3rd time i would definitely try it in the studio, this way i can alter the lighting and the background while also manually moving the flowers. This is something i would like to try and do and if i have time at the end of my unit i will try this. i think this would be quite a good shoot, obviously i would use the macro lens for this so i can gain lots of detail. i would also attempt to try the water droplets with this as well.
