Technique Page - Minimum depth of field
Technique
- Firstly you can do this technique either in the studio or on location.
- you need to pick a subject, then stand far away from your subject and zoom right into them to take the picture.
- Then your background will be blurred.
Work Diary- Minimum depth of field
Evaluation
This shoot was done during my transition week in which I went outside to take photos, I thought the shoot went well because my photos portrayed minimum depth of field and I also thought the location I chose was good for this technique. the image above represents minimum depth of field which is when you set the aperture high and you zoom right into your subject from a far distance. this then makes the background blurry while making your subject completely stay in focus which then makes your subject stand out more. I like this technique because it enables you to make things stand out and this could link into my personal topic of commercial photography.
How I can use this technique
This technique can be used within my personal project because the idea of my project is to advertise things, therefore I could use this within my portraiture photography as it will be making my subject stand out which is what I want to achieve.

Work Diary - personal shoot 3
Evaluation
This shoot was based around my idea of fashion and accessory for commercial photography, I thought this shots went well because I achieved photos which related to my topic and I thought I done a good job. My main focus for this shoot was to advertise my model Michael Kors watch and her outfit also, the outcome was good and above are my two favourite images from the shoot. the top photo is showing her watch in which I made the background darker in order to make the watch stand out more which I thought went well. Another favourite image of mine is the one below that where I have mixed three images together, I did this in order to sell my products as the images all linked together so I chose to put them all together, I thought this went better than having three separate photos as it also looks more interesting.
What I will do next time
Next time I do fashion and accessory photography I would like to use a location shoot, this would be different as I haven't yet done this and I would like to see the outcome. for this type of shoot I would go somewhere like London, for example Brick Lane, as I know there are some interesting backgrounds I could use here ad I already know a few spots.

Work Diary - Personal Shoot 2
Evaluation
This shoot was based around an experimental shoot for my personal project of commercial photography, in order to experiment i went into to town and caught photos of various things such as buildings and various things around the town. I thought the shoot went well as it enabled me to get some rough ideas of what I would like tot shoot and what I wouldn't like to shoot. overall I think I got some good shots of the building's and my favourite one is the image I have displayed above. I mirrored the image in order to get an effect which looks more interesting and I also thought this linked into commercial photography well as I could be advertising the buildings. I also like the image of the water because I think the angle is what makes the photo look best because at this angle you can see the ripples in the water which shows great detail.
What I will do next time
Now I have got some ideas on commercial photography next time I would like to shoot building in more depth. by this I mean I would like to go to places like London where there are a range of building and shoot them in more depth and different angles.

Techniques- Video
- set the camera to video
- press the button when ready to start then press it to stop
Image Bank- Sequencing
All of these photos represent the technique sequencing. this is when you take one picture after another of someone performing a movement and then you out them together to make a sequence. this technique works best when you keep the camera in the same place because it shows the sequence better. I like how all the photos are different in the way they have all got the camera at a different angle when photographing the sequence. I like the image at the top because it shows a big sequence performing a range of different shot types, I also like the background is this photo because it makes the action stand out more. another image I like is the one directly above. I think this sequence has worked well because the camera has been kept in the same place at each movement, i also like how the sequence has been put into one photo.
Work Diary - Personal shoot no 1
Evaluation
This was my first personal shoot which i done and i thought it went quite well. For this shoot i went to London in order to get some nice location for my photos which i based around a fashion shoot even though i was just experimenting. overall i thought it went well because i got a range of photos at different locations which. The image above is my favourite image because i think it links directly with my commercial fashion shoot and i think the photo overall lookd good. i really like the lighting in the photo because its shining on the right places of her body, i also like the location of this photo as she's sitting on a rock which makes the image overall look more elegant.
what i would do next time
Next tim if i was to do this shoot again i would like to use a different location and maybe a range of models so i have a variety of photos.

Technique Page - Sequencing
- plan out a sequence which involves your model moving.
- standing in the same spot take one image after another of your model moving or performing a move.
- put them next to each other in photo shop so its shows a sequence of photos of a move.
Work Diary - Fine Art
Evaluation
Today i set out to shoot fine art, this technique involves taking pictures with the purpose of them being pretty so they could be used for an advertisement for example, or the technique involves taking pictures which will challenge the viewer. These are two photos which i achieved from todays shoot, i took the image of the model smoking with the purpose to portray child hood which would challenge the viewers views. i then put it in back and white and highlighted the fact she is smoking by keeping the cigarette in colour so i could make it clear to my viewers what i was trying to achieve. i like the photo of the flowers because this represents fine art in a pretty way.
How i could use this
i could use this technique within my personal project because my topic revolves around commercial photography so therefore i could use it show my commercial photography for advertising for example.
Image Bank - Fine Art
Fine Art Photography
Fine art photography is when the images are taken with the purpose to be pretty like fine art, or to challenge the viewers. things like landscapes and horses and flowers are pretty things, challenging things could be thing like expressing what you think a child hood is like for example you could have little girls dressing up in high heels or smoking as this would challenge the viewer and they would have to think of their own perception of childhood. I like the picture of the horse because i think it represents fine art well because the the close up of the horse makes the detail stand out and i like the fact that you can see a reflection in its eye. I also like the image f the cloud/tree because it looks like a tree but in fact a cloud id on top of the tree trunk which makes it stand out so therefore its challenging the viewers.

Work Diary - Sequence
Evaluation
This shoot involved me taking images of my model with the purpose to produce a sequence. i thought the shoot went ok because i got a some good images however i would have liked to have gotten a better range. I like my image of the model walking because it shows a sequence, however i wish i could have edited it better because i couldn't make the last few photos the same size as the first 2. However i thought overall it went ok.
How i could use this
I could use this within my personal project because i could show a sequence of a horse jumping which would also show my commercial photography.

Work Diary - Multiple Imagery
Evaluation
Multiple imagery includes taking a range of images and then putting them back together either in a grid or to create the original picture. i thought this technique was good however i would like to try this technique outside as i am not happy with the overall shoot and thought i could have done better. However i am pleased with the overall attempt as i have created a sequence of images of just the face pointing at different parts. next time i would like try and shoot her into different moves and her doing different positions. i would also like to take pictures of her face in lots of detail and then put them back together so they create the original image of her face. this would almost be like a photo joiner but with not as much photos so its less detail.
how i could use this technique
I could use this technique within my project as this relates to my personal project of commercial photography, therefore i could take pictures of someones face in specific their lips for examples and then out them back together in multiple imagery style. this would then represent multiple imagery photography.

Work Diary- Animation
Evaluation
The technique animation was a technique which i enjoyed doing, this involved me taking a sequence of photos one after the other and then putting them all together to create an animation by using the movie maker and speeding up the photos. i thought this animation worked quite well as is showed a range of movements, however i thought i could have planned it better and perhaps made it a bit shorter to enable a better movement. i would have rather made two animation and made them shorter and more basic.
How i could use this
I could use this technique within my personal project by shooting a rage of shots of a horse running and then putting them together to create my animation of a horse. i think this will be effective as it will show how i can advertise a horse running within my project.
Work Diary - Blurring
Evaluation
The technique blur is achieved by having the camera on a long shutter speed and having a continuous light source, this way we get the blur effect as shown in my two pictures above which are my favourite photos i achieved from this shoot. i think this technique is interesting because it allows you to make the person/object look like they are moving. i like the image above of the light in the picture, i achieved this by making my model flash her phone light and move it around while i took the picture, i think the photo is interesting because you cannot actually see the model holding the phone light which makes the photo look more mysterious. i think this technique works best on a black background as you are able to see the movement more and it makes the image look more bold.
How I could use this technique
Although i liked this technique i think i would find it hard to include in my personal project, because my personal project is based around commercial photography. however if i did want to use this technique i could use it by shooting makeup/ fashion in the studio and blurring it so for example the lip stick looks lie it is moving on the lips.
Image Bank - Multiple Imagery
All of the images above represent multiple imagery, this technique involves you taking images of different parts of one object/person and then putting them together to either make the original shape or not. Multiple imagery can be done on almost anything which is why it is a good technique as you can shoot a range of things.
I particularly like the image of the clocks, I think its very interesting as it hasn't been put back exactly together as it shows different parts of the clocks which make it more worthwhile to look at. I also like how the photographer has photographed the clock up close as it shows the detail, I also think the lighting and angles at which the photo is taken at are really good.
Another photo I like that inspired me is the one of the tree's, it may look a bit boring but I like how they have been put together not in the right order as its made it look lot more interesting, I also like the lighting within the photo as it looks quite gloomy reflecting the season.
Image Bank - Animation
All of the photos above represent the technique animation, animation is when something is moving within a picture and all of these are meant to be moving, however some do not work.
